Medical Herbalist at The Dispensary Saturday 1st April

Christine Haughton, Medical Herbalist, is next with us on Saturday 1st April from 10 - 3 p.m.  If you would like to have a general chat about your well being or ask a specific query, just pop into our new shop at 25 Skinner Street, Whitby and see Christine. It’s free and there’s no need to book. Christine also offers free blood pressure checks.
Christine is a member of the National Institute of Medical Herbalists and the College of Practitioners of Phytotherapy, and a Fellow of the Royal Society for Public Health.

The photo above is of the herb Wild Marjoram (Origanum Vulgare). The name Origanum is derived from two Greek words - oros (mountain) and ganos (joy). The Greeks used it as a remedy for narcotic poisoning, convulsions and dropsy. If marjoram grew on a grave it ensured the happiness of the departed. Both the Greeks and the Romans crowned young couples with marjoram.
