Christine Haughton, Medical Herbalist, is next with us on Saturday 20th September from 10 - 3 p.m.  If you would like to have a general chat about your well being or ask a specific query, just pop into our shop at 6 Hunter Street, Whitby and see Christine. It’s free and there’s no need to book. Christine also offers free blood pressure checks.
Christine is a member of the National Institute of Medical Herbalists and the College of Practitioners of Phytotherapy, and a Fellow of the Royal Society for Public Health.

The photo above is of the herb borage. The plant’s Latin name, Borago, is thought to be a corruption of  corago, meaning ‘I bring heart’, although it may also be derived  from the Italian  borra  or French  bourra  meaning rough hair or wool, and perhaps referring to the short hairs covering the plant. A third derivation may be the Celtic  barrach, meaning ‘man of courage’. Thanks to Christine's website for this info!
