Future Culture

Goring, Nazi party progaganda chief, is famously quoted as saying "When I hear the word culture, I reach for my revolver". A slight misquotation but one which encapsulated the totalitarian attitude to art, education, spiritual activity and free thinking in general. In today's  world however you are more likely to hear the phrase " When I hear the word culture I reach for my cheque book".

Instead of culture representing every human beings inalienable freedom to think and experience the world in their own way through art, philosophy, spiritual activity ( the reason why it was such an anaethema to the Nazis) CULTURE has become a commodity, to be bought and sold, to be valued as something which nourishes social status rather than individual meaning.  

Trusting our own intuitive thoughts that which moves us, that which we relate to instinctively and naturally, has become increasingly difficult. Like a muscle we do not use this aspect of our humaness has become weakened.Yet we remain stubbornly attached to what our own thoughts tell us
