Action for Botton Public Meeting Fri 6th March 7.30p.m. Danby Village Hall
During the escalating crisis at Botton Village I went there yesterday, as usual to collect the weekly bread and cheese order for the Dispensary. I was moved and heartened to speak to residents there - one telling me of their pride at being interviewed in support of keeping the volunteer co-worker arrangement in place, another told me- "We're not beaten yet!" I felt very privileged to be standing side by side with these people in their struggle. Volunteer co -workers have now been given eviction notices and their own charity; CVT has decided to stop supporting them to run households in Botton. For these Co-workers it will mean reduced or no money, shortage of food, no transport, reduced access to their village & isolation in the community. BUT we can stop this from happening. PLEASE come to a public meeting at Danby Village Hall on Friday 6th March at 7.30p.m. where Action for Botton will be launching the Botton Buddies scheme - a way for you to help with practical or moral support. You will also hear what else is being done to try and stop this catastrophe from developing. The picture below shows residents and co-workers from Botton Village delivering a petition to David Cameron at 10 Downing Street yesterday.
