Christine Haughton, Medical Herbalist, is next with us on Saturday 21st January from 10 - 3 p.m.  If you would like to have a general chat about your well being or ask a specific query, just pop into our new shop at 25 Skinner Street, Whitby and see Christine. It’s free and there’s no need to book. Christine also offers free blood pressure checks.
Christine is a member of the National Institute of Medical Herbalists and the College of Practitioners of Phytotherapy, and a Fellow of the Royal Society for Public Health.

The photo above is of the herb Echinacea which was much valued by Native Americans and frontiersmen of the USA as a remedy for snakebite, fevers and for cleansing and healing suppurative wounds. The early settlers adopted the plant as a home remedy for colds and influenza, and it became popular with the 19th century Eclectics. Three species are used medicinally: E angustifoliaE. pallida (Nutt.) and E. purpurea (L.)
