The York and District M.E. Support Group provides support for people living along the East Coast from Whitby to Scarborough, who have M.E. (also known as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome).
The Group provides the opportunity for people who have M.E. or who care for sufferers to meet up with others and share experiences or find out information. Services include a telephone help line and a friendship network which allows sufferers and carers to develop friendships and offer support to each other without having to leave their homes.

Resource Centre which offers a comprehensive range of equipment for visually impaired clients, including talking watches, clocks, calculators, kitchen and bathroom scales. Clients are able to try out equipment such as the EZEE Reader which transfers magnified written material onto a television screen.
The Society also has the most up-to-date computer equipment available including a speech synthesizer and scanner. Tuition for computer skills is available on a one-to-one basis, including touch typing, word processing and internet. A training kitchen is available with a talking microwave oven.
Braille transcription service available. Monthly magazine in Braille, large print, tape and disc formats. Benefits advice and help filling in forms.
The Yorkshire Water Community Trust provides monetary assistance to those customers in genuine need, who have fallen into arrears with their water services charges. Applicants must show that they are in a multiple priority debt situation (including water services charges arrears with Yorkshire Water) and they will not have received a previous Award within the last 2 years. Any monies/awards granted are paid onto the customer's account with Yorkshire Water (no cash is given directly to the customer). Awards are also made to Council and Housing Association tenants whose water charges are included with their rent. In these cases, a cheque is sent to the Council or Housing Association, to be credited to the successful applicants' rent account.
Youth Centre located in Whitby town centre, for young people aged 13 to 19 from across the Whitby area. The centre is a one stop shop where young people will be able to meet social services, school nurses, the young offending team and other professionals in a non intimidating environment.
