Tai Chi QigongWorkshop with Master Joe Wai Man Lok
On Saturday 17th January, Whitby’s Coliseum Theatre will host a special seminar and workshop with the renowned Tai Chi & Qigong instructor and author, Master Joe Wai Man Lok.
Master Lok, who is based in Hong Kong, is a 20th generation inheritor of the Dragon Gate Taoist tradition, a 27th generation Wudang Seng Fang inheritor, and a master of internal martial arts and Taoist health practices. He is running several workshops across the UK in January to promote the Qigong holistic health system ‘Phoenix In Graceful Clouds of Blessing’ – which is comprised of a sequence of gentle and relaxing whole body movements based on traditional Chinese medical philosophies that aim to nourish and revitalise the mind and body and develop holistic health and wellbeing.
The workshop is open to experienced practitioners, complete beginners and anyone with an interest in holistic health practices and promises to be an enlightening and fascinating opportunity to learn first hand from a master of the tradition.
Master Lok will talk about the philosophies and principles that underpin the movements, before teaching the exercises. Topics covered include:
How energy works on health.
How to cultivate energy.
How energy flow can develop martial momentum.
The workshop starts at 11am and finishes at 1pm and includes a refreshment break and an opportunity for Master Lok to answer your questions. The event is being organised by local tai chi instructor, Wes Mollison:
“It is very rare indeed for our area to host such a high level practitioner of Taoist arts as Master Lok, who is a worldwide figure in Tai Chi and Qigong. Qigong is a traditional holistic health discipline that goes back at least 2000 years and can be translated as ‘energy work’. It is a wonderful method of relaxation and a gentle way to strengthen the mind and body. People will enjoy Master Lok’s down to earth approach and the profound knowledge and insight that has been passed down to him.”
Anyone with in an interest in holistic health practices, tai chi or traditional Chinese philosophies should contact Wes on 07730133068 or email email@example.com to book a place on the workshop. Tickets are £10.00 and the participatory nature of the workshop means spaces are limited.
